Endow a Bed!  
 

NEED:  To be able to offer a bed to a student who is homeless or facing housing insecurity before they become homeless. 

· Over 75% of Sierra College students are economically disadvantaged, former foster youth, historically under-represented, or first in their family to attend college – they need help.

· Each semester, we receive notice of several students who are sleeping in their cars or are couch surfing – they need a bed.

OPPORTUNITY: To offer housing to students who are at risk so they can stay in college and finish their education - breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty.

Sierra College is building 354 bed dorm that will offer affordable housing at $450 per month to the students.  While $450 may be affordable to many, there are some who cannot pay that...  The Sierra College Foundation (SCF) is hoping to raise enough funding to offer 10 beds for free in perpetuity to homeless students or those with the highest financial need. In order to do so, we need to raise $250,000 per bed that would generate a minimum of $7,500 annually that would cover the dorm cost of 2 semesters.

RESPONSE: Endow a Bed - $250,000 endowment will pay for one bed for one Sierra College student in perpetuity. This will offer housing for one student with the highest financial need for one year.
