GV 1073 - Image of Jesus Crucifix

The image of Jesus on this crucifix, handcrafted by Fr. Richard Zanoni, S.J., is a somewhat contemporary rendition of the corpus painted by Cimabue around the year 1288. The crucifix features Jesus flanked by his mother and St. John. The original was suspended over the main altar in the Basilica of the Holy Cross in Florence and was severely damaged in the flood of 1966.
