Helen studied drawing and painting at the Winnipeg School of Art with Joseph Plaskett and later at the Banff School of Fine Art with Frederic Taubes and in the Fine Arts Program at the University of Manitoba. Helen moved to Europe and studied at the Andre L'Hote Academy in Paris and toured museums in France, Italy and Spain. Upon returning to Canada, Helen maintained an active studio practice, exhibited nationally and internationally.
