Based near Seattle's Lake Union, Sonja Blomdahl is a glass artist with international acclaim. She is a master of the incalmo technique, a method of constructing vessels by attaching two or more blown glass elements together. This bowl is a fine example of the technique. Blomdahl's works are in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art & Design in New York, Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC, and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. The Whatcom Museum featured Blomdahl's work in the 2021 Exhibition Fluid Formations: Legacy of Glass in the Pacific Northwest.
