What is Text2Bid for your virtual auction?

Text2Bid is optimized to work on your smartphone — no app download required!

Due to Covid-19, we have had to pivot from our live in-person gala and auction, to a virtual online event. Text2Bid, made by Maestro Software, is our virtual online bidding platform that we use for the auction portion of our virtual event. Text2Bid does require you to create a separate account on its platform, but rest assured that all your information is fully secure (it uses the same technology and safeguards as outlined in our "Is my account information secure?" FAQ below), and we use it only for our virtual event. We never share your information with anyone or company.

Text2Bid is easy and fun to use!

  1. Text NEWPORT to 71760  —OR—  Text NEWPORT to 845-262-2243 if your reply text says short codes are not allowed
  2. Look for a reply to the text message you just sent
  3. Tap the link in the text message you received
  4. Follow the prompts to view auction items & for registering to bid
  5. Bidding opens on April 29 @ 10AM, you can either repeat step 1 or step 3


Text2Bid Tips & Tricks

  • NO APP DOWNLOAD TO YOUR SMARTPHONE IS REQUIRED!
  • To participate in bidding and to get text alerts, you must register via texting NEWPORT to 71760. Follow prompts from there. Text alerts will provide important information—such as letting you know you’ve been outbid for that special item! (Note: If you text STOP you will not receive alerts and will need to re-engage by texting NEWPORT to 71760.)
  • Tap 'Items' to browse the catalog of items.
  • Tap an 'Item Name' to read the description, add to watch list, and bid.
  • Tap 'My Bids' to view your watch list and bid history.
  • Use 'AutoBid' to set up automatic bidding for items of your choice. This feature will increase your bid incrementally, up to a maximum amount that YOU specify, to keep you as the high bidder for as long as possible.
  • Tap 'Donate' to contribute directly to our fundraising campaign. Your dollars will be MATCHED up to our first $10,000 in donations received!
  • Connections may be faster if you set your phone's browser to use your Wi-Fi connection only. (In your phone settings, toggle your phone's web browser 'off' from using cellular data. Reverse this setting when you leave your Wi-Fi area.)
  • You may also view auction items on your computer or tablet. Type in the link provided when you signed up on your phone. Use this link for the duration of the auction.
  • Too much ‘dinging’ from text alerts? On your phone, set the incoming text number to 'Do Not Disturb' or 'Hide Alerts'. That way, you can check for bid alerts at your convenience (Note: If you text STOP you will not receive alerts and will need to re-engage by texting NEWPORT to 71760).
  • Add newportgala@gmail.com to your safe sender list. This will allow NBPA to communicate with you after the auction so you can receive the goodies you've won.



Why do I need to sign in to your website?

To purchase tickets and to attend our annual in-person Gala and Auction, you must have an account on our website. In addition to being used to purchase gala tickets for yourself or your guests, we also use your information to organize in advance the many details (including meal choices, seating assignments, bidder cards, and many more organizational preparations) that come with hosting such a large event, so we can make your experience on the night of our gala and auction as enjoyable and easy for you as possible.

The information you share on yourself and any of your guests let's us quickly check you in on the evening of our gala; helps us organize all our gala attendees into table groups; helps us to track and order our reception appetizers as well as your gala dinner choices with our Newcastle Golf Club event coordinators; and to provide you and your guests auction bidder numbers that you can use for our silent auction items as well as our great live auction items if you decide to bid on any of them.


Is my account information secure?

YES! Any personal information we ask for is securely stored on Maestro Software web servers, the same company whose web servers our Gala website runs on. Maestro Software partners with IAT Payments to provide safe and secure credit card transactions for all the websites they administer. Any information you share with us via our website is only used by Newport Band Parents Association to: provide you with an exceptional gala experience both during and after our event: communicate our annual gala and related information to you by mail and/or email; to facilitate your online activities on our website related to gala ticket purchases, item purchases, donations or gala sponsorship purchases; to facilitate your event night activity at our gala related to 'walk-up' gala ticket purchases, silent and live auction item purchases, as well as donations; and to manage our gala attendee guest list and all the related logistics of running a large and successful, dinner and live auction event.
