Community Build is a community-started, community-run, all volunteer 501(C)(3) organization under the umbrella of StrongerTowns. We mobilize volunteer resources to build Tiny Homes providing shelter for the homeless while in collaboration with other Community resources support them so they may progress to more permanent housing and self-sufficiency.
We have completed 3 transitional supervised housing villages in Jefferson County; Peter’s Place in Port Hadlock, Pat’s Place in Port Townsend, and Caswell-Brown on Mill Road. We just completed the first 11 shelters for Caswell-Brown and, with the help of your generous donation, will be able to complete 10 more in the spring. Each shelter has a bed platform, cubbies for storage, a heater, lights, curtains, pegs and rod for hanging clothes. One tiny shelter costs $6500 to complete. Centralized facilities are provided for a fireplace heated gathering place where daily meal is provided and a centralized set set of showers are provided. Our hope is to be able to add double units (10 x 16) in the new Caswell-Brown spring project to accommodate couples.
It is an honor and privilege to work with Port Townsend Rotary Club to advance our mission of helping our homeless to return with dignity to our Community.
