17th Annual Hope Within Luncheon Keynote Speaker

Madeline (Maddy) Brockert brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to the intimate partner violence (IPV) prevention space,
having accumulated nearly 13 years of expertise through volunteer, education and professional experiences. Maddy's journey is rooted in personal
resilience, having witnessed her mother navigate an emotionally abusive relationship during her childhood, shaping her into a survivor and an advocate for change. Maddy's IPV prevention journey started over a decade ago by providing education to thousands of students in middle and high schools across the greater Seattle area. Ever since, Maddy has professionally and through volunteerism, collaborated with local and national domestic violence non-profits and, more recently, international advocates for change by contributing to IPV prevention strategies, community engagement, and fundraising efforts. This has included creating and facilitating prevention workshops and training in both the corporate and higher education settings, participating in large speaking engagements and representing non-profits as the subject matter expert (SME) for media awareness articles and news segments. In 2023, Maddy obtained her master’s degree in public health from the University of Washington. While there, she conducted impactful research on the implications of IPV laws on survivors, while also assessing the barriers within the crisis response system in Washington state. Maddy believes her unique blend of personal experience, academic acumen, volunteering, and professional expertise can help lead initiatives in community education and IPV prevention to contribute meaningful change around community beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors to ultimately end intimate partner violence.
